On Saturday 6th June, 36 of our pupils represented the school with distinction at the Herts County Track & Field Athletics Championships, held at Jarman Park. Despite competing in highly adverse weather conditions, the squad demonstrated exceptional resilience and determination, culminating in a series of superb individual performances.
A number of our athletes achieved the ultimate distinction of being crowned County Champions. In the hurdles, Isabella secured victory in the Under-17 category, earning qualification for the prestigious English Schools Championships in July. She will be joined at the national championships by Noah, who won the Under-17 Pole Vault, and Isaac, who claimed the title in the Under-20 Pole Vault. Further county titles were secured in the field events by Jonathan in the Under-17 Hammer, Ben in the Under-15 Boys Hammer, Imogen in the Under-15 Girls Hammer, Charlie in the Under-15 High Jump, Georgia in the Under-13 Shot and Logan in the Under-13 Javelin.
Special recognition must also go to Harry, who delivered a highly impressive dual performance to finish as the runner-up in both the Under-15 Pole Vault and Hammer events. The school extends its warmest congratulations to all the pupils who competed so admirably, showcasing both their sporting talent and exemplary character on the county stage.
Posted on: 18th Jun 2026Historic achievement: School celebrated with prestigious Platinum Games Mark
We are absolutely delighted to announce that our school has officially achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year.
This is an incredible milestone for our community. The Platinum Mark is the highest possible level of accolade, awarded only to schools that have successfully sustained a Gold level for three consecutive years. Looking back through our records to 2015, this marks the first time in our school’s history that we have achieved this prestigious level of recognition.
The School Games Mark is a government-led scheme launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust. It rewards schools for their unwavering commitment to developing sports competition both within the school and across the wider community. To qualify for the elite Platinum tier, we had to demonstrate rigorous excellence across several key areas, including broad participation across all ability levels, a strong presence in local inter-school competitions, a dedicated workforce of pupil leaders, volunteers, and officials, and an extensive network of extracurricular sports clubs.
Our PE department and staff work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide both local primary and our pupils with an outstanding provision of sport and leadership. This success is a true team effort, driven not just by the PE department, but by all the staff members who generously offer their time and support to run and officiate clubs and initiatives. A huge thank you goes out to everyone whose hard work, enthusiasm and support made this historic achievement a reality.
We are immensely proud of our pupils and staff for setting a new benchmark for sporting excellence.

Our talented pupil, Sam B, Year 9, has been named one of just five winners nationwide in the prestigious ' The Day's Student Voices Young Journalist Awards 2026. Sam B clinched the honour with a compelling, insightful opinion piece titled, “Life Isn't All Sunshine And Rainbows But It's Not Doom And Gloom Either.” The competition judges praised the passion, positivity and exceptional eloquence of Sam’s writing. As part of the winner's package, the article was officially published on The Day’s global Student Voices platform on 15th June, alongside the national announcement of the competition winners.
Sam’s award-winning article takes critical aim at the modern media landscape, arguing that mainstream platforms rely on sensationalism and fear to drive reader engagement. The piece contrasts historical anxieties with today's relentless news cycle, which feeds on global catastrophes. While acknowledging real hardships, Sam warns that constant access to bleak updates is mentally exhausting and traps younger generations in a false sense of hopelessness. Far from advocating for purposeful ignorance, Sam urges readers to stay informed while remembering how far humanity has progressed. The essay highlights that we are living in a golden age of technology and medical achievement.
Ultimately, the award-winning piece serves as a powerful reminder of humanity's inherent resilience and proven ability to thrive in the face of adversity. As Sam beautifully concludes, "It's important to keep positive, because whatever happens, humans always adapt and never lose hope." The entire St Clement Danes community extends its warmest congratulations to Sam on this incredible achievement
