SCD pupil secures Gold medal and international orchestral roles

Year 7 pupil Amaru has achieved a sensational Gold Medal at the prestigious Ealing Festival of Music and Drama. Competing in the highly competitive 11 to 14 age category, despite not yet being 12 years old, Amaru wowed adjudicator Gill Johnston with a flawless performance of Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, triumphing over much older contestants. This adds to an already glittering trophy cabinet for the young violinist, who previously won trophies at both the Ealing Festival and the international New Talent Festival. Amaru’s remarkable talent is nurtured weekly at the Royal Academy of Music, and he has officially been accepted to join their esteemed Junior Academy this coming September. His pedigree as a leading young violinist is well established, having already performed as first violin for both the National Children's Orchestra and Guildhall. This summer promises to be an extraordinary global adventure for the young musician. Amaru has been accepted into the Catalan Youth Symphony Orchestra as a first violin for their July tour in France, performing a special homage to the legendary Pablo Casals. Securing a first violin seat in an elite orchestra of 13 to 18-year-olds at just 11 years of age is an astonishing feat. Following this, he will attend a prestigious summer residential in August with Musicworks, one of the finest chamber music courses in the UK, after a successful audition last month. We are incredibly proud of Amaru's magnificent achievements and look forward to hearing all about his summer of music!
