18th JuneAleksija secures spots at top London conservatoires
Aleksija, Year 10 is celebrating a historic achievement after securing places at two of the UK’s most prestigious musical institutions. Aleksija has been accepted into the Junior departments of both the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study classical singing and cello. Following her extraordinary audition success, Aleksija has chosen to take up her place at the Royal Academy of Music, where she will begin her studies this September.
During her highly competitive auditions, Aleksija stunned panellists not only with her musicality but also with her linguistic prowess. She performed challenging vocal pieces in Spanish by Manuel de Falla and in French by Erik Satie, demonstrating a phenomenal command of both languages alongside her technical vocal skill.
Beyond the school gates, Aleksija maintains a demanding performance schedule. As a cellist, she plays for the Watford Youth Orchestra, with whom she recently performed the live score for The Snowman, and the Senior Chamber Music Ensemble at the Watford School of Music, which recently took the stage for Dragons at the Watford Pump House Theatre. Her solo singing career is equally flourishing; she recently performed a solo at the Chorleywood Spring Festival and delivered a powerful French vocal performance to a crowd of 1,500 people in Sweden during an international debate tournament.
Aleksija remains one of the music department's most dedicated and versatile assets. She generously lends her talents to a wide array of school groups, performing as a valued member of the First Orchestra, String Ensemble, Jazz Band, Senior Choir, and Chamber Choir. The entire school community offers its warmest congratulations to Aleksija on this monumental achievement and wishes her the very best as she steps onto the conservatoire stage this autumn.
