21st MayRecord breaking Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award success celebrated at Buckingham Palace
There is monumental cause for celebration following the announcement of our biggest ever completion of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. Out of the 59 determined pupils who originally embarked on this challenging journey, an impressive 35 have already fully completed their award, with many more currently on course to finish their remaining sections in the near future. Enormous congratulations are extended to all the pupils involved, who have shown immense dedication, resilience, and time-management skills by balancing the rigorous, long-term demands of the Gold award alongside their intense academic studies.
The extraordinary achievements of these pupils were recognised at the highest level with an invitation to a prestigious garden party at Buckingham Palace. Due to the strict criteria, pupils who completed their award before the end of February received an invitation for this year’s royal event. This saw 25 of our pupils invited to the Palace, with 20 able to accept the invitation and attend the celebrations today, whilst the remaining five unfortunately had to decline due to sitting an exam. Those who missed out today, along with the pupils still finishing their final sections, look forward to receiving their invitations to the Palace next year.
The garden party was a star-studded affair, featuring inspiring speeches from several celebrity guests, including Larry Lamb, Alex Jones, Hugh Bonneville, and Jake Humphrey. The speech delivered by broadcaster Jake Humphrey was a particular highlight, focusing on the invaluable lessons of putting oneself out there and learning to embrace failure as a stepping stone to success.
