May PE Round-Up: A month of record breaking triumphs, runs and wickets!

What an unbelievable month of sport it has been! From dominating on the cricket crease to shattering records on the athletics track and even crowning a national champion, our pupils have shown incredible work ethic, talent, and sportsmanship this May.

Here is your round-up of all the fantastic PE achievements from the past few weeks.

Cricket: Boundaries, wickets, and historic starts

It has been a packed month for our cricket teams, with some stunning individual performances and massive team victories.

Year 9 Dominance
The Year 9 team has been in scintillating form. They kicked off their season by posting a massive 167 for 1, thanks to Dwij, Tommy, and Prem all smashing 40+ runs, before bowling Rickmansworth out for just 62 (Sam taking 3 wickets and Rithvik taking 2).

They carried that momentum straight into the County Plate, securing a huge 130-run win over Ashlyns, highlighted by a spectacular hat-trick from Jaimin! They followed this up with a 35-run win against Roundwood Park in Round 2, featuring an excellent 46 runs from Prem.

Year 7 Flying Start
Our Year 7 boys made school history this month, starting their SCD cricket careers with a wicket on the very first ball! They secured a dominant 10-wicket win over Ashlyns in the County Plate, with wickets shared among Rishaan, Jayan, Mohammed, Jiyaan, Reyansh, and Noah.

They kept the streak alive in the County Plate quarter-final against Monks Walk. After a strong start from the opposition, Jayan ripped through their lineup with 5 wickets, pegging them back to 70 all out. The boys chased it down comfortably losing only 2 wickets, guided by a solid 34 from Jiyaan. They now march on to the semi-finals after Half Term!

Year 10 Knight Stokes Cup
The Year 10s came agonisingly close to a spot in the County Final of the new Knight Stokes Cup. Playing their semi-final against KWS at Hitchin CC, the boys posted a highly competitive 133 for 5, which included a massive 6 from Aryan and a fine 56 from Dara. Unfortunately, despite a valiant effort, KWS chased down the total with an over to spare.

Athletics: Cup finals and record-breaking jumps

Hard work truly pays off, and our athletics squads have been proving it week after week with outstanding dedication and a string of successes.

Track & Field Cup Success
Following a brilliant day of competition, the official results are in, and all four of our teams have qualified for the Regional Finals! * The Junior Girls (JG), Intermediate Girls (IG), and Intermediate Boys (IB) teams have qualified for the A North London Regional Final on Monday 15th June.

The Junior Boys (JB) team qualified for the B Final on Wednesday 10th June.

Special mention to the impressive squad that racked up an excellent 493 points to secure their spot, with Noah standing out by scoring a massive 55 points across the Pole Vault and Hurdles.

County League Masterclasses
At County League Match 2, our teams showed massive improvement, with three teams taking 1st place on the night! A later meet saw the U14 Girls completely dominate, winning nearly all the track events and placing in the top 3 for every single field event.

Athletes of the Match / Day Honours:

U14 Girls: Audrey (300m 2nd) & Annie

U14 Boys: Joseph (Hurdles & Pole Vault win) & Theo

U16 Girls: Lottie (Long Jump, 200m & Relay win) & Isabella

U16 Boys: Aryan (Discus win) & Noah

Noah Smashes the County Record!
It has been an extraordinary month for Noah VdB. Not only did he become the County U16 Pole Vault Champion with a staggering personal best of 4m 10cm, but he also broke the County League record with a clearance of 4.06m at a recent meet. An incredible achievement from a truly impressive athlete!

Gymnastics: Jessie is crowned British Champion!

Beyond the school fields, we have major national success to celebrate. A massive congratulations to Jessie, who competed in the Acrobatic NDP Finals - 2026.

Representing the school and her club with distinction, Jessie and her partner put on an incredible performance to place 1st overall and were crowned British Champions in the IDP1 - Women’s Pair category!

What a sensational month for our PE department and pupils. Enjoy the achievements, keep up the training and let's carry this incredible momentum into June's regional finals!
