A legacy honoured: Renaming the Dr Valentine Learning Resource Centre

We were delighted to celebrate a truly historic moment recently as we officially renamed our library the Dr Valentine Learning Resource Centre. This special tribute served as the highlight of our annual Easter Concert, where we were privileged to welcome back the school's former Headteacher, Dr Josephine Valentine OBE, alongside her family and former colleagues.

The evening’s performance was dedicated to Dr Valentine’s remarkable 20-year legacy as Headteacher (1998–2018) and her visionary leadership over the past decade in establishing and leading the Danes Educational Trust. The musical repertoire included pieces she personally selected, reflecting the passion and commitment to excellence she championed throughout her distinguished career.

This celebration carries even greater significance as Dr Valentine prepares to step down from her role as CEO of the Danes Educational Trust. After an extraordinary 42 years of dedicated service to education, her retirement marks the end of an era. Throughout her two decades as Headteacher, she often remarked that she had "the best job at the best school in the world," a sentiment that resonated deeply with the staff, pupils and parents who flourished under her guidance.

Her enduring belief in the power of a world-class education was reflected in the fond memories shared of international tours to Italy and Prague, reminding us all of the foundation of excellence she built for the school. We are immensely proud that her name will now be permanently linked to our centre of learning, honouring a leader who has shaped the lives of so many pupils across the Trust.

We wish her the very best for the future; her profound impact on our school community will be felt for generations to come.
