14th JulyYear 8 trip to Design Museum
On Tuesday 7th July 30 Year 8 pupils enjoyed a highly successful and engaging visit to the Design Museum, where pupils explored a wide range of exhibits showcasing innovation, creativity, and the impact of design on everyday life. Their museum tour encouraged curiosity and independent thinking, with pupils actively discussing how design shapes the world around them.
A highlight of the day was the Sustainability and Smart Materials workshop, a hands-on session that allowed pupils to experiment with emerging materials and consider how designers use them to solve environmental challenges. Pupils worked collaboratively, tested ideas, and demonstrated excellent problemâsolving skills. The workshop supported key curriculum aims by deepening their understanding of sustainable design practices and modern material technologies.
Overall, the trip was exceptionally positive. Year 8 represented the school brilliantly, engaged fully with all activities, and returned with new knowledge, inspiration, and enthusiasm for design.
