Immersion trip to Andalucía, Spain
From 11th - 15th May, 2025, students from Years 10 and 12 enjoyed an immersion trip to Jaén, in the heart of Andalucía. The trip offered a rich blend of language, culture, and adventure, giving students the chance to deepen their understanding of Spanish life and practise their language skills in real-world settings.
The trip began with a warm arrival in sunny Málaga. Students explored the vibrant city, enjoyed a guided tour, and capped off the afternoon with a well-deserved ice cream break on the beach. After soaking up the coastal atmosphere, the group travelled inland to settle into their accommodation in Jaén.
On the second day, students were immersed in the daily rhythm of Spanish school life. A lively “Speed Meeting” session with local students helped break the ice, followed by a guided tour of the host school. The rest of the day was filled with team-building activities that blended English and Spanish, encouraging collaboration and cultural exchange between the two groups.
The third day offered a full cultural experience, beginning with a guided olive oil tasting that celebrated one of Andalucía’s most iconic products. Students then visited a bustling local market, where they practised their Spanish in real-life situations. The group also explored the historic Castillo de Santa Catalina, took a scenic walk through the surrounding countryside, and in the evening, enjoyed a traditional paella night. The day concluded with a fun-filled bowling evening shared with their Spanish pen-pals.
The final day was spent in the beautiful city of Granada. Students took in stunning panoramic views from El Mirador de San Nicolás and explored the interactive exhibits at the city’s renowned Science Park. The trip ended on a high note with a farewell fiesta, celebrating the friendships formed throughout the week.
