Silver is an option for our current Year 10 students. Whether you have completed Bronze or not, you can apply to start your Silver award.
Volunteering section: 6 months
Physical and Skills sections: one section for 6 months and the other section for 3 months
Expedition section: 3 days/2 nights - Training Day, Practice and Qualifying Expeditions
If you didn’t do Bronze, you must undertake a further 6 months in either the Volunteering or the longer of the Physical or Skills sections.
Students need to find an assessor for each of their three sections. This person must have an interest or expertise in the section and not be a family member. The students will meet with their assessor before they start their section to discuss their aims. The assessor will then monitor progress and write a report at the end of the time. The report will need to be submitted to eDofE.org/assessor, or photographed and uploaded to the participant’s eDofE account.
How much does it cost?
The cost of registering for the award is £35. This covers your welcome pack, an administration charge to the Licenced Organisation and school's administration charge. Students were able to apply for a place during September this year.
The other costs are for the expedition which is £500, if completed with school. The other sections’ costs will depend on what you choose to do. Online registration is via this link

If a student is unable to attend the school expedition, there are many other opportunities on offer. We are pleased to be using Adventure Expeditions as our Approved Activity Provider (AAP) this year and details about them can be found on their website. http://www.adventure-expeditions.net/
Alternative expeditions can be found on the DofE web site. Here you’ll find a list of AAPs who do open expeditions, including horseback, canoeing and cycling. Any student can apply to do these expeditions in their own time and still complete their award with school.
