What is the Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is additional funding allocated to publicly funded schools in England on behalf of students who are considered, for one of a range of social, emotional or financial reasons, to be disadvantaged. The funding is designed to help schools ensure they raise the attainment of these students, and ensure that disadvantaged students are able to progress as well as students who are not.
The table below indicates the funding allocated by the Department for Education for the academic year 2019-20:
Students in Y7-11 recorded as having had Free School Meals at any point in the last 6 years.
Children Looked After by Local Authority Care.
Children in ‘post-Local Authority’ care, including those who have been Adopted from Care.
Students in Y7-11 recorded as having been the child who has had a parent in the Armed Forces in the last 5 years.
It is important to note that Pupil Premium funding is not intended to be an individual ‘account’ per student. Rather, schools take an overview of their whole Pupil Premium budget, and the needs of all Pupil Premium students, then direct key strategies to help raise progress and attainment levels amongst Pupil Premium students. It is only by using the money as one budget that high cost support, e.g. staffing for one-to-one/ small group tuition can be funded.
Pupil Premium 2019-2020
The Pupil Premium budget for St. Clement Danes School in 2019-20 is forecast to be £88,833.04. In 2018-19 is was £84,428.
- Refine and embed data-gathering processes which lead to individual Pupil Premium Education Plans (PPEPs): student progress data, student and parent surveys including PASS survey, teacher feedback, feedback from intervention providers and other agencies.
- Embed active use of PPEPs by teachers and Middle Leaders.
- Maintain enhanced pastoral and academic support for Pupil Premium students in receipt of £2300 funding to include regular, personalised contact with Pastoral and Senior Leaders and multi-disciplinary team meetings as appropriate.
- Maintain targeted, personalised provision through use of PPEPs and bidding forms for individual or group resources.
- Ensure all under-progressing Pupil Premium students in Key Stage 4 have access to subject specific and Learning to Learn support programmes, as well as in-school pastoral support and counselling where necessary.
- Ensure all Year 11 Pupil Premium students have priority places on Easter Revision and Compulsory Study Leave programmes.
- Maintain wide range of careers guidance and enrichment opportunities for Pupil Premium students.
- Maintain monitoring and provision for ‘post-Pupil Premium’ students in the Sixth Form.
How we will measure our Impact
- Gap narrows between progress of Year 11 Pupil Premium students and rest of cohort in overall Progress 8 figures, English Progress 8 figure and Maths Progress 8 figure.
- Gap narrows or stays minimal between progress of Year 7-10 Pupil Premium students and rest of cohort in internal progress data.
- Teachers, Middle and Senior Leaders maintain use of PPEPs and student progress data to inform interventions, and Pupil Premium bidding forms to put in place bespoke intervention and resources.
- PPEP reviews demonstrate implementation of recommended actions and positive progress by Pupil Premium students.
- Attendance gap between Pupil Premium students and rest of cohort reduces still further across Years 7-11.
