Year 12 students celebrate winning Sixth Form Public Speaking Contest

On Thursday 30th November 2017 a team of three Year 12 students won the East Region Final of the English Speaking Union Sixth Form Public Speaking Competition at Felsted School in Dunmow. They won the contest against stiff competition from a number of prestigious schools. The team consisted of:

Chairperson: Jonathan Driver

Speaker: Maxwell Duncan

Questioner: Florence McGrath

Maxwell spoke on the topic of personal and social influences and Florence was commended personally by the judges for her exceptional performance as questioner. The head judge was James Raven who is a Fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge, and is Professor of Modern History at the University of Essex. This is a second year of success for Maxwell and Florence, who were part of the team that was awarded runner-up in the National Final of the ESU PS Competition last year.

Well done to all three students on this fantastic and most impressive achievement!
