St. Clement Danes was inspected by Ofsted on 24th and 25th January 2007.

During the two days inspectors observed lessons and spoke to students and staff. Parents also completed a questionnaire which the inspectors read and analysed.

The report, which was published on 22nd February 2007 is outstanding and extremely positive about all aspects of the school which is described as ‘a very good school with many features that are outstanding’. Virtually every aspect of the school is graded ‘outstanding’ including Personal Development and Well Being, Curriculum and Other Activities, Care, Guidance and Support and Leadership and Management.

The report speaks highly of the care and support that students are given in ‘an environment where there is a very strong ethos of helping all students to develop academically and personally’. Students’ behaviour and attitudes to learning are described as ‘exemplary’.

Leadership and Management are described as ‘outstanding’ and the report states that the Headteacher ‘is energetic and has a clear vision for the school. She leads a strong team of senior staff and governors, who clearly demonstrate the skills and commitment necessary to improve the school still further’.

The curriculum is ‘outstanding’ and teaching is ‘effective with some excellent features’. Lessons are ‘well planned with clear purpose shared and understood by students’. Parents are ‘very supportive of the school and many comment that they could not have found a better school for their children with teachers who are caring and highly committed.

The Headteacher, Dr Josephine Valentine, comments that she is ‘extremely proud of the findings in the report and feels that they are a strong and fair reflection of the commitment and hard work of everyone involved – staff, governors, students and parents.'
