Learning Resources Centre

The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is open at all times during the school day, and from Monday to Thursday a homework club operates until 4.30pm.

The LRC has 24 computers as well as housing an extensive range of fiction and non-fiction material aimed to appeal to students of all ages and reading abilities. The non-fiction collection relates closely to the school curriculum, with titles being regularly reviewed by subject leaders to ensure they remain relevant.  As such, the LRC is an invaluable teaching resource which is frequently booked by teaching staff.Learning Resources Centre

The LRC operates a library management system called ‘Oliver’. This new software system will be developed over the 2009-10 academic year and will ultimately allow students to log in to their library account on-line from any internet enabled computer and renew or reserve items. It will also allow students to search for resources both in the LRC and other libraries as well as providing links to a number of useful websites.

The LRC stocks daily and weekly newspapers and sells a wide range of stationery at very modest prices. GCSE and A Level students can also take advantage of the journal subscription service provided.

The Connexions Resources area has recently been awarded a Quality Standards certificate. This area contains a comprehensive range of material dealing with personal issues students may face. It also provides reference material for students to find guidance on further and higher education, voluntary work, gap years and careers information.
