1975-1985

In 1975, under an agreement between the Governing Board of the School and  Hertfordshire County Council, the school was re-established in its new premises in Chenies Road, Chorleywood, as a Voluntary-Aided Mixed Comprehensive School.

The 1970s saw the era of Punk Rock which brought with it a new fashion for studded leather, chains, piercings and outrageous spiked hair. In direct contrast, the early 1980s heralded New Romantic trend with synthesized music and frilly shirts.

Conservative Margaret Thatcher became the first British female Prime Minister in 1979; Lady Diana Spencer married Prince Charles, heir to the throne in 1981 and Britain defended the Falkland Islands from Argentinian invasion in 1982.

If you were at the school during this period we would love to hear your views.  Simply email them, along with any schooldays photos you may have, to hardyj565@stclementdanes.herts.sch.uk Thank you.
