Another fantastic set of results at SCD

Students at St Clement Danes were picking up a bumper crop of GCSE results today, with one measure recorded the best in the school’s history. Nearly half (48.3%) of all grades were at A* or A grades, making this the highest attaining cohort ever and bucking the national trend of a decline in top grades. 87% students achieved 5 A* to C grades including English and Maths. 28 students (nearly 14% of the cohort) gained A* and A grades in every GCSE subject.

This comes a week after Year 12 and 13 students received their A and AS Level results. It was a more sombre occasion than usual, as Year 13 students were coming to terms with the death of one of their peers, Livvy Christopher, just days earlier. At A Level, 69% of passes were at A* to B, with 36% being at either A* or A. There was a 100% pass rate. Our students, on average, gained the equivalent of around AAB grades and most have secured places at their first choice of course at university or college.  At AS, 58.5% of grades were at A or B with all the results boding well for success at A Level next year.

Dr Valentine was delighted with all of the results. “We are very proud of all of our students who have worked hard throughout their time at the school to gain such fantastic results. We should also pay tribute to the commitment and hard work of their teachers, both at St Clement Danes and in their primary schools, for helping to lay such solid foundations for future success. We are delighted that so many of our Year 11s will be returning to the Sixth Form at the school to continue their studies and hope that our Year 13s will stay in touch as they embark on future studies, gap years or employment.”
