Athletes reach regional finals

It was a successful day for Junior Boys and Girls athletics teams on Wednesday this week when both won the County Round of the ESSA Track and Field Cup. Fantastic performances from both teams led to the boys reaching the Regional 'B' Final on 13th June, joining the Intermediate Girls who competed last week. The Junior Girls reached the Regional 'A' Final on 20th June. At this, they will be competing against the best schools from 6 counties: Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

The competition involves students competing in two events each and gaining points for their performances. Star athletes of the day were Kai Alland who scored 51 points with a 37.22m javelin throw and 13.7 in the hurdles and Lauryn Holder, scoring 42 points with a 12.9 Hurdles and 1.35m high jump. The Junior Girls beat JFK by 26 points to win and the Junior Boys beat Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School by 27 points. Congratulations to all concerned.
